As per the latest assertion of the noted developer Motaquote together with RSA Insurance Group, a novel GPS device suits the purpose as it could help young drivers lessen insurance premiums by up to 40 per cent. It is to be noted that the i-kube happens to be a GPS device that enables insurers to make a note of whether 17 to 25 year old drivers are driving between 11pm and 5am, with those refraining from the practice receiving the preferential rate.

Apart from this, the i-kube also does make note of the times the car is used, and if it is made known to be on the road between the above times then the driver is charged an additional £45 each time to stay insured.

What led to the development of the device? It has been learnt that the device was developed following research depicting that 20 per cent of young drivers are not covered by insurance, with many mentioning the high cost of insurance as the main reason for steering clear of taking out a policy.

"i-kube is an innovative way of helping reduce the number of needless road crashes and deaths that are caused on our roads each year – while allowing young drivers access to insurance premiums in their own name that are affordable.” "It is not designed to be a killjoy by stopping young people going out at night. We are simply encouraging young drivers to put their cars to bed and use a different mode of transport to get to where they want to go, be it by bus, taxi or a lift from Mum and Dad."

Motaquoteonline is a facility for customers to purchase their personal insurance at a competitive price with quality cover. The insurance portfolio includes household, car and travel. It does proffer a range of other products such as excess waiver, vehicle breakdown and the young driver scheme, i-kube which is for 17-25 year olds and can render up to 45% off anyone’s policy.
