The notion of global warming is no longer a new concept. To be very precise serious discourses on it has become a part and parcel of our lives. In other words it can be said that the issue of global warming rages around us and blankets our lives with facts and fiction, of each and every aspect. But the added revelations do confirm that there is much more in it, than what is thought by the common men. To many, the very concept has not reached such an alarming condition till now, and there is more hype by the governments especially in the developed countries. However, it may be too early to say, since over the past century, there is simply no doubt, that the global temperatures have risen.
While the rise in temperature has been only a degree or so, the concern is whether the Earth\'s temperatures will continue to rise and what impact it will have on the environment. The controversy is, therefore about the gradual rise of the temperature of the earth, which is indeed a result of conflicting evidence.
Now, if you think that this is for the first time in the history of earth that global warming is happening, you are not correct. There are definite evidences that global warming also had emerged in the prehistoric era and that is a scientific point. In fact, there are several pundits who try to opine that the striking of a large meteor on the planet, at some time, resulted into a massive change in the earth\'s temperature. Did this collision exterminate the dinosaurs? Unfortunately, science has not been able to prove this decisively up till now.
The political and industrial lobbies in the modern global spectrum further complicate conversations about global warming. The contentions of these groups are, we by now, do not know enough about the effects of global warming to limit industrial emissions. Therefore, for a number of years global warming will still be considered as a significant subject of discussions. Unless science proves its decisive effect, no steadfast policy on an international basis can be implemented.
