Unleashing the power of Be: Be, the 24 meg broadband provider, doesn’t stand still

Be has unveiled plans for the next phase in their rollout plan, building on the 60 exchanges that have already been unbundled in London. By May, Be’s aggressive rollout plan should see a total of 156 exchanges unbundled.

With £24.5 million of funding in place, Be is forging ahead with their national rollout. Birmingham and Manchester will be the first two cities outside of London to benefit from Be’s expansion – both are predicted to go live next month.

"Since we broke the broadband speed record last year we have been focused on developing the best products we can and now we want to bring that innovation to much more of the UK," said Dana Pressman, Managing Director of Be Unlimited.

Advanced ordering

To make the ordering process as simple as possible, Be have added advance ordering for any exchanges that are expected to be activated within the next few months. Up until now potential members have had to keep track of availability by testing their BT number on the website. Now they can sign up and Be will automatically process their order the moment the exchange is activated.

Be member forum

Be have added their own member forum to enable members to share their extensive broadband knowledge, tips and general chat with other like-minded members.

Be email
Be have also launched a ‘Home email’ package in response to member feedback. For just £2 per month members will have up to five individual email accounts with a total storage of 1 GB and 100MB of webspace. Email can be accessed either through webmail or using POP3 and includes the latest protection against spam and viruses. The 100MB webspace allows members to either create their own websites or to use the space for off-site backup of critical files.

Since launching last summer, Be have continually raised the bar for the UK broadband market not only in terms of technology, speed and price but now coverage as well. With prices starting at £14 per month and every member receiving a free ‘Be Box’ wireless router, Be have the most competitive broadband products in the UK.

Be’s 24 meg service represents an exponential leap for Internet users. Just one of their 24 meg broadband lines can stream two High Definition TV (HDTV) channels, plus three or four standard TV or Video-on-Demand channels, and still have enough bandwidth for general surfing or voice calls (VoIP). The ‘Be Box’ router supplied free to all members enables them to go wireless from anywhere at home and the connection is fast enough to be shared by everyone in their household.
