LONDON: Shayne Ward remained at the top of the pop charts for the second week in a row with his "That's My Goal" Sunday.
Ward, 21, has annexed the coveted Christmas No 1 spot last week and had come first in ITV's "X-Factor" competition. The previously-unknown folk-pop duo Nizlopi, who were pushed to the No 2 spot during Christmas, stayed there with their acoustic rendering "JCB Song".
The week ended Sunday also saw Madonna's dance track "Hung Up" moving five places up No 3 position, after eight weeks of release. Eminem with "When I'm Gone" moved one place up to No 4 position. The Pogues, who were at No 3, with "Fairytale Of New York", slipped two places to No 5 position. The rendering is a re-release marking the fifth anniversary of the death of Kirsty MacColl, who sang with Shane MacGowan on the original track.
The No 6 position went to all-girl Los Angeles band Pussycat Dolls, with their "Stickwitu", No 7 position to the American act Black Eyed Peas with "My Humps", No 8 to all-girl band Sugababes for their re-entry, "Ugly", No 9 to former British army officer James Blunt with "Goodbye My Lover", and No 10 to female act Girls Aloud with "See the Day".
The sole entry during the week, "Cash Machine" from Hard-Fi was at No 14.
In the album charts, Eminem’s "Curtain Call – the Hits", retained the top spot, James Blunt’s "Back to Bedlam" at No 2 and Kelly Clarkson's "Breakaway" rose five places to No 3.
Robbie Williams' "Intensive Care" (Chrysalis) moved back from No 2 to No 1 position on the European Top 100 Albums chart, while Madonna scored a sixth week atop the Eurochart Top 100 Singles survey with "Hung Up".
