FSA expresses concern over increasing level of frustration due to consumer debt
LONDON - The Financial Services Authority has warned that the growing consumer debt was increasing the level of frustration among consumers as they struggled to understand the increasingly complex financial mechanisms. This is the first time that the City watchdog has expressed concern in this regard.

Belgium annuls Ethiopian debt
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia - Taking the first step towards fulfilling its commitment at the G8 summit in Gleneagles, Scotland as a part of the 19 members of the Paris Club, Belgium today signed an agreement to cancel €14.62 million of debt owed to it by the east African country of Ethiopia.

Individual insolvencies in Britain at a record high
Individual insolvencies in Britain reached an all-time high of 17,562 in the third quarter of 2005, an increase of 11.6 per cent on the quarter and 46 per cent on the year -- and the highest since 1960 -- according to the department of trade and industry-compiled figures.

LGA says council taxes will soar by 10% next year

Homeowners facing debt problems increase
Mortgage repossession orders in England and Wales increased in the last three months by about 66 per cent as compared to the same period a year ago. In fact, they have been on the rise since the early part of 2004. It is the highest rate since 1996.
