BSkyB has introduced the first ever interactive TV credit and loyalty card in UK, the SkyCard. Able to operate like an ordinary credit card in shops and cash machines globally, the SkyCard sports an additional feature of being able to be put into the interactive slot on the Sky digibox that facilitates users to handle their credit card transactions and dealings through the TV.

In addition to that, this card with the Sky brand offers 0% interest rate on purchases as well as on balance transfers till 1st January 2006. Besides, it also has a typical purchase APR of 16.9%.

The SkyCard, moreover, has some booty as rewards in store for customers too. For instance, every £1 spent by a customer will reward him with one SkyPoint. Having earned this SkyPoint, the customer can now exchange this SkyPoint for prizes like a discount on a monthly sky subscription or a paid football game or a paid movie.

Meanwhile, the Sky Head of Loyalty, Peter Waugh expressed excitement and thrill at the exclusive SkyCard launch. Furnishing additional information about the card, he said “We are excited to be launching the UK's first interactive TV credit card with a very generous loyalty scheme, offering an entertaining and relevant range of rewards to 7.6m Sky customers. SkyCard is the first credit card that can be inserted into the interactive slot of your Sky box allowing you to manage your account, view the latest rewards available and redeem SkyPoints through your Sky box.”

He added that customers had always desired for schemes that were loyal and genuinely useful, not those that only bragged about their offers and practically provided nothing. SkyCard, therefore, was just the kind of authentic and beneficial card customers had ever wanted, according to Waugh.
