Visa, American Express terminate CardSystems deal
In an expected move, Visa USA has terminated its relationship with the company that left 40 million cardholders at risk in one of the biggest data thefts in the country. CardSystems Solutions was found to have a lax security, which allowed a breach in its data thereby putting customers though considerable anxiety.

Chip and PIN conversion cost prohibits credit card usage
Internet Bank, Intelligent Finance (IF), standalone subsidiary of Halifax Bank of Scotland (HBOS) has notified its 70, 000 credit card customers of frosty options. They could shift to another Intelligent Finance Card, find a different provider or pay outstanding balances within a span of a month.

Apacs says overseas fraud on UK credit cards is at year low
A study conducted by Apacs, the industry body for card issuers, has found that the fraud committed on UK credit and debit cards on foreign soil has fallen to a five-year low. The figures show that the fraud amount for the year 2004 was a total of £92.5m, down from £138.4m in 2001 and the lowest figure since 1999.

Consumer credit growth decelerates
Consumer credit shows incessant decline as credit borrowing takes a toll with the smallest increase witnessed during the month. As per the official figures of the Bank of England, though mortgages lending did make a comeback with small increase in April, credit card lending was at its weakest for almost four years.

Neverending debt story as repayment made difficult by Goldfish
Goldfish card undergoes a paradigm shift as it declares a host of new developments. To start with, cardholders will no longer enjoy the benefits of free travel accident insurance. The minimum monthly repayment amount for 1.3m card customers will be reduced to 2% of the money outstanding as against the present figure of 3%. This will come into effect from 1 July this year.

Changing face of credit cards baffle consumers
Mrs. Thornton, my neighbour has just got back from a relaxing holiday in the Cayman Islands. Imagine her surprise when she found that her credit card has charged her an extra amount for her overseas purchases, of which, let me say there were many items for she has three daughters and a horde of grandchildren. She complained loudly to me that it was time for her to change her card.

According to its new online policy, you can now book tickets through a credit card in any country which implies that one can pay for a journey from anywhere as long as it is served by the airline.
