Manx Telecom Secures BABT Approval Using Cerillion Billing Solution
London, UK, 7th June 2006 - Cerillion Technologies today announced that Manx Telecom, a wholly owned subsidiary of O2 and part of the Telefonica group, had become the first combined fixed and mobile telecommunications company in the world to gain BABT approval for its billing.

CBI says government plan to support small businesses has failed
The government's 8-billion-pound-a-year business support network has failed to offer any adequate support to start-up companies, the Confederation of British Industry alleged Monday. An increasing number of companies are giving up receiving any support from government schemes as the advice provided are conflicting and untrustworthy, the CBI said in a report.

Mittal Steel makes bid to acquire Arcelor
Global steel major Mittal Steel Co NV made a hostile 18.6 billion euro takeover bid for French rival Arcelor SA. The company, owned by multi-billionaire steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal, said the merger would create the world's first 100 million tonne-a-year steel producer and a 'global champion' for the industry.

WH Smith reports lower sales, but expected profits
LONDON - WH Smith, the High Street stationer and bookseller has announced that sales were weak during the vital Christmas period. Like-for-like sales dipped by 6 percent, at the 542 stores across the UK, in the seven weeks ending January 21.

Police raid Yamaha premises for alleged helicopter sale to China
Japanese police raided the offices of Yamaha Motor Co. Monday following a criminal complaint by the government alleging that the company had sold helicopters to China illegally, some of which could be using for military purposes.

O2 records 18% rise in subscriber numbers
British mobile phone company O2 Plc. has added 1.75 million new customers in the third quarter to reach a customer base of 27.4 million, representing a year-on-year increase of 18 per cent, the company said in a statement. The company, once part of the BT Group Plc., is all set to be acquired by Spanish telecom operator Telefonica for 17.7 billion pounds.

John Lewis is favourite store among people, says market study
John Lewis is the shoppers' favourite store now, according to a new market research report. The upmarket store has dislodged Ikea, which has been reigning at No 1 position in the consumer satisfaction index compiled by MR firm Verdict Research. The Swedish furniture retailer is now at No 5.
