Perhaps you are acquainted with the name of Ocado. It happens to be a globally acclaimed British internet grocery retailer with headquarter in Hatfield, Hertfordshire in England. Now Amazon, worldwide celebrated internet retailer, is all set to outshine the same Ocado. How? Amazon, in accordance with the latest report, is going to proffer wider product range compared to Ocado from major suppliers. These include Kraft, Nestlé and Procter and Gamble. All these have become evident since Amazon has launched a grocery division putting up for sale 22,000 products including brands like Pampers nappies, Ariel washing powder and Pedigree Chum dog food.
On the word of Amazon, its new "grocery store" would offer 22,000 lines with big consumer goods firms Kraft, Nestlé and Procter & Gamble among the suppliers involved. If compared, Ocado sells 20,000 products, and a quarter of this does come from Waitrose.
Speaking on this major development, Brian McBride, Managing Director of Amazon.co.uk, said the division offered customers the opportunity to pay money for staples such as washing powder and toilet roll in bulk, or shop for gourmet and organic products such as pheasant, partridge and wheels of cheese. "I don\'t think many people will do their weekly shop [with us]," said McBride in one interview, adding: "There will be many people who live outside of the big cities, who might find it difficult to track down their favourite brand of green tea, or ingredients for a Japanese recipe."
Amazon.com, Inc. happens to be an US-based multinational electronic commerce company. Headquartered in Seattle, Washington, it is America\'s largest online retailer, with nearly three times the Internet sales revenue of the runner up, Staples, Inc., as of January 2010.
