Microsoft and news are almost inseparably related. Truly speaking, on each and every day almost its new endeavors and success do adorn an assortment of news websites. These days, it is also in the news bur for a different reason altogether. 


Chris Liddell, Chief Financial Officer of Microsoft, exceedingly worldwide reputed computer technology corporation, is all set to leave the company at the end of the year, indicating that he is in quest of a bigger job at another company. In accordance with Microsoft, Chris Liddell is now "looking at a number of opportunities that will expand his career beyond being a CFO." 


Liddell has been the CFO at the software company since May 2005, after joining from paper and packaging maker International Paper, where he was also CFO. Prior to his arrival in the U.S., Liddell was the CEO of New Zealand forest products company Carter Holt Harvey, and also worked as an Investment Banker. He holds a Master\'s degree in Philosophy and does triathlons in his spare time.


It has also been determined that Liddell will be succeeded as Microsoft CFO by Peter Klein, who, at this time, is the CFO of Microsoft\'s Business Division, which makes the highly profitable Office suite of programs.


Microsoft Corporation happens to be a multinational computer technology corporation that develops, manufactures, licenses, and supports a wide range of software products for computing devices. Headquartered in Redmond, Washington, USA, its most money-spinning products are the Microsoft Windows operating system and the Microsoft Office suite of productivity software.


The company had its inception in 1975 in order to develop and sell BASIC interpreters for the Altair 8800. Microsoft rose to dominate the home computer operating system market with MS-DOS in the mid-1980s, followed by the Windows line of operating systems. Many of its products have achieved near-ubiquity in the desktop computer market.


Apart from this, Microsoft owns footings in other markets, with assets such as the MSNBC cable television network, the MSN Internet portal, and the Microsoft Encarta multimedia encyclopedia.
